India and Russia on Wednesday signed eight agreements, including the Delhi Declaration and a joint declaration, which would enhance economic, scientific and technical cooperation between the two countries.
Russian President Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee signed the Delhi Declaration.
The two countries also signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in combating terrorism. External Affairs Minister Yashwant Sinha and his Russian counterpart Igor Ivanov signed that agreement.
Vajpayee and Putin also signed a joint declaration on strengthening and enhancing economic, scientific and technical cooperation.
While IT Minister Pramod Mahajan and Ivanov signed the MoU on cooperation in the field of telecommunication, another protocol on intellectual property rights was signed by Human Resources Development Minister Murli Manohar Joshi and Russian Industry and Science and Tehnology
Karnataka Chief Minister S M Krishna signed a protocol on behalf of his state with Russia's Samara region to enhance trade, economic, technological and cultural cooperation. From the Russian side, Samara Governor Konstantin Titov signed the document.
While an agreement was signed between Canara Bank and a Russian bank, the former extended a credit of $10 million to the latter through the eighth agreement.
