Pro-talks ULFA delegation to meet PC, Pillai

Eight member-delegation of the United Liberation Front of Asom led by chairman Aurobinda Rajkhowa, already in the national capital, will hold talks with the Union Home Secretary G K Pillai on Thursday after a introductory meeting with the Home Minister P Chidambaram.

Rajkhowa is the same man who, in 1992, had duped New Delhi and fled to Bangladesh when the government was holding talks with the ULFA cadre.

Experts are still apprehensive as to what may happen if something goes wrong because of Rajkhowa's known ability to 'swing from one end to the other.'

However, ULFA's self-styled 'commander-in-chief' chief Paresh Baruah is opposed to talks with the Centre as the pro-talk delegation has given up its main demand of sovereignty and is willing to hold unconditional within the framework of the Indian constitution.

Bangladesh has come down heavily on the ULFA groups which had used its territory for carrying out subversive activities after the Bhutan government built pressure on the terror groups operating from the Himalayan kingdom.

Paresh Baruah is currently under house arrest in Bangladesh -- his movements on the request of the government of India.

After holding talks with the home secretary, the pro-talks ULFA delegation would address mediapersons at 5pm on Thursday.
