Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Monday expressed grief and horror at the terror attack on the Indian Embassy in Kabul, which claimed 41 lives.
In a statement issued to the media on board a special flight to Japan for the G8 Summit, Dr Singh said, " I am horrified to know of the death of our personnel in the dastardly terrorist attack on our embassy in Kabul. The loss of precious Indian and Afghan lives must be condemned in the strongest terms possible. Those responsible, directly or indirectly, for this terrorist attack and for making this possible are no better than the worst criminals."
"I offer my deep condolences to those who have lost their loved ones, and to those who have suffered grievous injury," the statement added.
"India is with the families of those bereaved today. We will do all that we can to help them bear their loss and grief. This is our pledge. We have lost Indians who were helping their Afghan brothers to rebuild their lives and country. That endeavour must continue with renewed vigour," the statement said.
