Pak fishermen handed over to Kutch police

The Pakistani fishing boat apprehended by the Indian Coast Guard on Monday from the Kori Creek area in Kutch district with eight fishermen on board have been handed over to the district police, an official release from the Defence PRO said.

Out of the eight people on board the boat, three were teenagers aged between 10 and 16 years, the release said.

Azgar Ali (10), Abdul Jabbar (12), Noorul Amin (16) were the three teenagers on board the Pakistani fishing boat Al Zainab, along with five others, Abdul Shakur (27), Abdul Salam Sheikh (40), Mohammad Nadim (45), Mohammad Kabir (50), Mohammad Hussain Sheikh (21), it said.

Besides the crew the coast guard found nearly 500 kg of fish from inside the boat, the release added.

During preliminary investigation it was found that all the crew members are resident of Ibrahim Hydn Bunder, Karachi, Pakistan, and the boat sailed out from Ibrahim Hydn Bunder on December 14.

The boat was apprehended by the Indian coast guard nine nautical miles from International Maritime Boundary line within Indian waters.

The apprehended crew along with the seized boat have been handed over to the Jakhau police, the release from the defence PRO office said.
