All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi's alleged supporters on Wednesday attacked media vans in Adilabad after Owaisi was arrested and sent to 14-day judicial custody.

According to television reports, MIM supporters attacked media vans in Adilabad, where a shutdown is being observed on Wednesday.

The MIM had called for a shutdown in Adilabad and Nizamabad districts in Andhra Pradesh following the arrest of Akbaruddin Owaisi on Tuesday.

Additional security forces have been deployed in Hyderabad and Adilabad as a precautionary measure.

Owaisi was arrested on Tuesday, hours after doctors at the government-run Gandhi Hospital said that he is suffering from a number of ailments.

As per the medical report, Owaisi has adhesions and hernia in the abdomen and a bullet in his right thigh, which is pressing on his sciatic nerve.

The MLA from Chandrayangutta here has been booked under IPC Sections 153A (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, language etc and doing acts prejudicial to maintenance of harmony) and 295A (deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs).
