The meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar in Delhi was one of courtesy and had Nitish displayed similar 'good sense' earlier Bihar would not had been in the political mire, the Bharatiya Janata Party said on Friday.

"Had such good sense prevailed at that time (2010) Bihar would not have been trapped in political mire," senior BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi told media persons.

There was, however, no chance of the BJP joining hands with the Janata Dal-United and Nitish now. "The question does not arise," he said.

Referring to the June 2010 incident when Nitish had cancelled a dinner for BJP leaders, who were here for the party's national executive meeting, after a photograph of Modi holding his hand was published in the newspapers, Sushil Modi said " Nitish had then forgot that Narendra Modi was the chief minister of Gujarat and deserved courtesy from a fellow CM."

Later, Nitish was behind the JD-U severing ties with the BJP in June 2013 after 17 long years of friendship in the name of same person -- Narendra Modi, he said.

Had Nitish followed ‘normal courtesy’ followed by a chief minister for his counterparts in other states he would not have to go to "sit in the lap of Rashtriya Janata Dal president Lalu Prasad.

"Political untouchability should not have any place in public life," he added.

Leader in Opposition in the assembly, Nand Kishore Yadav also took a swipe at Nitish saying had Nitish shown courtesy to Modi then he "need not have to knock the doors of

Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav, visit Indian National Lok Dal president O P Chautala in Tihar jail and the 10 Janpath residence of Sonia Gandhi."
