DMK representative was among those present at a meeting of National Democratic Alliance leaders, chaired by Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on Saturday morning to chalk out the strategy to face the no-confidence motion to be moved by Congress in the Lok Sabha on Monday.

Dravida Munnetra Kazhagham leader and Environment Minister T R Baalu's presence at the meeting is being considered significant in view of the Bharatiya Janata Party's decision to enlist the support of the All India Anna DMK, its rival in Tamil Nadu.

The AIADMK, in recent months, has been warming up to the BJP and has been supportive of the saffron party on a number of ideological issues, including uniform civil code and the legislation against conversion much to the displeasure of the DMK.

Among others present at the meeting at the prime minister's residence are Deputy Prime Minister Lal Kishenchand Advani, NDA convener and Defence Minister George Fernandes, BJP president M Venkaiah Naidu and Trinamool Congress leader Mamata Banerjee.

Meanwhile, Congress president Sonia Gandhi, who has given the notice for a no-confidence motion against the Vajpayee government, also held consultations with senior party leaders to finalise strategy.

Arjun Singh, Shivraj Patil, Ambika Soni, Buta Singh, Ahmed Patel, Priyaranjan Dasmunshi and S Jaipal Reddy were among those who attended the meeting.
