Councilor shot dead in Kashmir

Militants on Tuesday morning killed a Congress party municipal councilor in north Kashmir's Baramulla district, 54 kms from Srinagar.

The police said unidentified militants shot dead councilor Wali Mohammad War near his home at Khawajabagh in the densely populated Baramullah town.

The police immediately reached the spot and shifted War to a local hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries.

On Sunday, militants shot dead an independent municipal councilor in Sopore town in north Kashmir.
