For 67-year-old Annamma it has been a 26-year wait to meet her two daughters, who were adopted by a Canadian family from an orphanage.

Her prayers have finally been heard and her two daughters Rosy and Ammini, with their children, will be arriving at Annamma's house at Kokkamangalam near Chertala in Kerala's Alapuzha district later on Wednesday to meet her.

After her husband's death in Chennai, Annamma and her four children moved to Kerala.

She was finding it extremely difficult to make two ends meet, despite working in houses as a maid and later left for Chertala to became a coir worker.

Annamma said poverty forced her to send her four children to an orphanage at Kalady in Ernakulam.

From there her two daughters were adopted by a Canadian couple when Rosy was 10 years old and Ammini, 8.

After her daugters grew up and got married, they decided to search for their mother.

Help came in the form of the Quebec Malayali Association and a businesswoman from Kerala, who helped in locating Ammini.

Annamma admits that language would be a barrier while communicating to her daugters and her grandchildren, who are accompanying their mothers to Kerala. She now lives with her son, who is also waiting to meet his sisters.
