A man who announced a ‘reward’ of Rs 11 lakh for anyone who ‘shoots down’ Jawaharlal Nehru University students’ union president Kanhaiya Kumar, has only Rs 150 in his bank account and owes rent for several months.
The Purvanchal Sena president, Adarsh Sharma, went into hiding soon after a case under the Delhi Prevention of Defacement of Property Act was registered against him at the Parliament Street police station.
The case was registered on Sunday after the Delhi police found the posters in which Sharma promised any man who would shoot Kanhaiya Rs 11 lakh.
Police officials said that the poster also carried his mobile number, which was unreachable at present.
“He did not have any regular source of income and for livelihood. He mostly depended on money borrowed from his friends. He would often take money (Rs 100 to Rs 500) from people on the pretext of getting their work done at the local police station or civic agencies offices using his influence,” an officer was quoted by one of the national dailies.
Sharma, who hails from Begusarai in Bihar, has stopped all communication with his family members, relatives and friends, the report added.
The police are reportedly sending a team to Sharma’s hometown to apprehend him for interrogation in the case.
Meanwhile, Bharatiya Janata Party Yuva Morcha leader Kuldeep Varshnay had on Friday announced Rs 5 lakh prize money for cutting off the tongue of Kanhaiya. Taking note of Varshnay’s remark, the Badaun unit of the Morcha on Saturday expelled him from primary membership of the party for six years.
