President A P J Abdul Kalam Wednesday promised to take "necessary action" on demands for his intervention in the Jessica Lal murder case in which all the accused have been acquitted.

"I have got as many as 20,0000 e-mail messages. I am studying them and will take necessary action," he told reporters on board his aircraft on way to Yangoon, the first leg of his five-day two-nation trip to Myanmar and Mauritius.

A couple of days ago NDTV news channel had presented to the President 20,0000 e-mail messages it had received from its viewers seeking his intervention and justice in the murder of the Delhi model seven years ago in a posh restaurant.

All the accused, including Manu Sharma, son of Haryana Minister Venod Sharma, were acquitted by a Delhi sessions judge for lack of evidence and since then there has been a public outrage against the judgement.
