A top United States defence official is visiting India in September to discuss possible arms sales to New Delhi, including the Patriot PAC-3 anti-missile system, considered the principal competitor to the Israeli Arrow, a media report said.
The head of the Defence Cooperation Security Agency in the Pentagon, Lt. Gen. Jeffrey Kohler, will discuss possible arms sales to India during his visit.
Kohler, who is in-charge of US military export in the defence department, will discuss about advance missile systems, amphibious ships and try to convince Indian officials to purchase the Patriot PAC-3 anti-missile system, the Jerusalem Post reported.
US sources confirmed the visit to the Post.
The Patriot PAC-3 is considered the principal competitor to the Israeli Arrow system, both of which are designed to intercept long and medium-range missiles.
Jerusalem considers New Delhi as a prime market for the Arrow missiles, but Washington is said to have increased its efforts to compete on the Indian deal.
