Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday made it clear that he will complete his full term of five years, as per the agreement between the top leaders of the National Conference and the Congress.
Addressing a media conference in Jammu, the CM said, "I, as the then president of National Conference and Sonia Gandhi, president of the Indian National Congress, discussed the issue threadbare and made it clear that there will be no rotational chief minister in the state."
"The decision to this effect is final between the two parties (and has been) taken at the highest level," he said.
Replying to a question, Abdullah said, "Any statement on the subject can be the individual view of the person who makes such a statement but it will have no bearing on the decision taken by the NC and Congress high commands'.
The chief minister added, "A coalition government works in complete cohesion to accomplish the developmental agenda it has drawn for the equitable development of all the regions of the state'.
Speaking on the alleged strain of ties between the coalition partners, Abdullah said, "We have fought elections against each other as such individual views sometimes surface, but these have no bearing on the running of the government or the policy decisions made regarding the coalition government."
