"Curfew was relaxed between 1400 IST and and 1530 IST," Ahmedabad District Collector Anit Karwal said.

Karwal said there was no shortage of essential commodities in any part of the town. "The situation is peaceful at present and the town is slowly limping back to normalcy," she said.

Three men were killed in police and private firing in Viramgam when two communities clashed on Sunday.

Police have arrested 24 people, including an ex-municipal councillor.

At least 12 shops were torched and ransacked by rioting mobs.
