Govinda's nephew seeks anticipatory bail in assault case

Bollywood actor and Congress Member of Parliament Govinda's nephew Janmendra Kirtikar Ahuja  filed an anticipatory bail application before the sessions court in Mumbai on Monday. Ahuja sought bail in connection with an assault case registered against him two days ago by the Versova police. Ahuja's bail application will be heard by the sessions court on Tuesday.

The complaint was filed against Ahuja last week by his former girlfriend and producer Panchali Gupta. According to Gupta, it was a "failed relationship" that made Ahuja forcibly enter her house and abuse and assault her.

"Ahuja had just gone

to Gupta's house as a friend and had not assaulted or abused her. These are false allegations levelled by Gupta," Ahuja's advocate Ashok Sutrale told PTI.

A case had also been registered against Ahuja in September 2006 for molesting Seema Chincholikar, wife of Dayanand Chincholikar, PA to Food and Civil Supplies Minister Sunil Tatkare. According to the victim, Janmendra and his friends had tried to molest her while she was with her husband near a fast-food stall at Juhu beach.

Ahuja was, however, released on bail within ten days.
