A day after Aam Aadmi Party leader Kumar Vishwas failed to appear before the Delhi Commission for Women, DCW chief Barkha Shukla Singh said that the panel has written to the home ministry, Delhi Police Commissioner BS Bassi and Delhi Lieutenant-Governor Najeeb Jung seeking intervention in the matter.

“We have called the husband of the victimised woman at the Commission and he had come. Our attempt is to unite them as the woman has alleged that her husband left her following rumours of her illicit affair with the leader. Kumar Vishwas hasn’t bothered to reach here,” DCW chairperson Barkha Shukla Singh said.

The DCW claimed that it had first issued summons to Vishwas and his wife on May 4, asking them to appear before it by 3 pm but Vishwas had not turned up.

Thereafter, DCW on Wednesday issued fresh summons to him to appear before it, and

Singh in front of the television cameras had requested Vishwas to appear before them and help save the woman’s family. But Vishwas failed to appear for the second time too. Vishwas is currently on a 10-day trip to the United States of America.

The complainant who was also present at the DCW accused Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Vishwas of being “very insensitive” and alleged that “Vishwas and Kejriwal were concerned about their dignity, what about mine and my family?”
