The Congress will hold a two-day meeting of its block presidents on March 28-29 at the Ambedkar stadium in New Delhi as part of efforts to rejuvenate the organisation.

This will be followed by a rally -- to be addressed by Congress president Sonia Gandhi -- at the Ramlila ground on Sunday March 30.

At a meeting of the preparatory committee comprising several Congress leaders, the agenda was decided for the three-day programme, which will have at least seven sessions.

Several resolutions will be adopted in the first two days.

The issues of farmers, problems of scheduled castes and scheduled tribes, and empowerment of women are some of the subjects that will be discussed at the meeting.

All India Congress Committee general secretary Motilal Vohra told rediff.com: "Farmers have so many problems… rise in prices of diesel, petrol and urea… the sugarcane prices have not yet been settled."

With regard to the SC/STs, the progress on the 21-point 'Bhopal Declaration', adopted at a conference of dalit intellectuals nearly two years ago, will be discussed.

The resolution adopted at the last AICC meeting on women's empowerment at the Talkatora Stadium is also expected to come up for discussion.

A state-wise action plan will also be chalked out. Each block president will be advised to step up party activities as per the plan.

Besides, the Congress president is expected to advise the party functionaries to organise protests to highlight the failures of the National Democratic Alliance government.
