Union Minister and senior Congress leader from Andhra Pradesh Kishore Chandra Deo criticised the state lawmakers for their campaign on separate Telangana state, saying the party is not going to act under pressure.

After taking over as the new Panchayati Raj Minister, Deo disapproved of the actions of Andhra Pradesh MLAs and MPs who have resigned on Telangana issue.

"This is not the way. You don't get a separate state like this. I don't think the party is going to act under pressure," he said

Deo said though he did not have a personal opinion on the issue of Telangana, the Congress central leadership will look into the matter. "I will go by what the party decides. We are bound by what the party will decide."

The Andhra leader felt that "the nation cannot run like this, if people from different areas keep making demands for separate states".

He, however, admitted that the resignations would certainly affect governance in the coastal state.

Cutting across party lines, as many as 101 MLAs and 13 MPs from Andhra have so far tendered their resignations in support of their demand for the separate state of Telangana.

Congress had asked its MLAs and MPs to sit for dialogue to help resolve the issue.

Party lawmakers from non-Telangana regions on Tuesday met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh demanding that the government should not bifurcate Andhra Pradesh.

While in Hyderabad, Congress leaders from Telangana regions decided to come to Delhi on July 21-22 to meet senior party leader Ghulam Nabi Azad, who is incharge of party affairs in Andhra Pradesh.
