Taking note of the aggressive Chinese designs in Finger Point area, the northernmost tip of Sikkim, the Bharatiya Janata Party on Monday demanded that the government summon Chinese Ambassador to India Zhang Yan and tell him that it would not brook any incursions from the northern neighbour.

Blaming the aggression on the 'weak-kneed foreign policy' of the United Progressive Alliance, first in Arunachal Pradesh and now in Sikkim, the party said China should be told in clear terms that India will not tolerate any further incursions.

China is emboldened to meddle in Sikkim after Tawang district did not fall in the itinerary of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's recent visit to Arunachal Pradesh, BJP spokesman Ravishankar Prasad told media persons.

He said India should use all available diplomatic instruments to convey the country's unhappiness over the repeated incursions by the northern neighbour. They should know that the government will not adopt 'soft attitude' towards China because survival of the UPA government is dependent on the support of Left Parties, particularly the CPI-M, he said, hinting at its fraternal relations with China.

"We have to show that India will act in national interest," he said.

Prasad said the aggressive designs of China are coupled with its cooperation with Pakistan's nuclear missile development programme.

Reacting to the prime minister's comment on the need to create a Federal Agency to investigate terrorist crimes, Prasad said the BJP had made it clear that this could not happen without a strong anti-terror law.

"What is the point if you create an investigation agency without power to bite," he asked.
