The Central Bureau of Investigation Friday detained a top Airports Authority of India official and his son after a nightlong raid on their home on charges of alleged corruption.

CBI sources said the raid had revealed incriminating evidence from the residence of N K Puri, the executive director (east) of AAI's national airports division. They had also seized incriminating documents from his home and Rs 600,000 in cash.

The CBI officers raided Puri's home on a specific tip-off that he has amassed wealth disproportionate with his known sources of income.

Puri, who allegedly siphoned off airport development funds, is being questioned by CBI officials at the bureau's anti-corruption office at Nizam Palace here.

Neither Puri nor his son had been arrested till morning.
