Britain's Cambridge University will put up a special memorial plaque in honour of its almuni, Indian scientist Jagdish Chandra Bose, to mark the Nobel Laureate's 150th birth anniversary.

Bose will join the list of eminent personalities like biologist Charles Darwin and poet John Milton, whose plaques were put up several years back.

The memorial will come up at the Christ College's Second Court room labelled 'D5' in the Cambridge premises, where Bose had stayed during 1883-84.

"Cambridge has a tradition of putting up memorial plaques in honour of its alumni. The college has consented to honour Bose on his 150th birth anniversary in November 2008," said Ranjit Nair, director of the Centre for Philosophy and Foundation of Science, New Delhi.

The Master of Christ's College Prof Sir Frank Kelly had informed about the decision during the alumni meet at Cambridge, earlier this week, Nair, an alumni of Christ College told PTI.

Presently, the D5 houses few under-graduate students of the Christ College.

The college took a research to locate the exact room of the Bose.

"The alumni office and honorary archivist of the college Geoffrey Martin researched the issue and came up with the answer that he lived in the D5," he said.

The college is also planning to organise a set of functions to celebrate Bose's anniversary in a big way.
