The Supreme Court on Wednesday said it will closely scrutinise documents relating to the change of designated CBI judges trying the fodder scam cases involving Railway Minister Lalu Prasad at Patna and pose queries, if any, to the Patna High Court.

A bench comprising Justices S N Variava, A R Lakshmanan and S H Kapadia said it will scrutinise the documents received from the High Court relating to the promotion of designated CBI Judge Yogendra Prasad and the appointment of Munni Lal Paswan in his place to try the fodder scam cases.

"After examining the documents if there would be some queries, the court will dictate it for the High Court on October 26, the next date of hearing," the bench said.

The court was hearing a public interest litigation filed by Janata Dal (United) leader Rajiv Ranjan Singh 'Lallan' and Bharatiya Janata Party member of Parliament Sushil Kumar Modi challenging the quashing of income tax cases against Lalu and his wife Rabri Devi while seeking stay on the transfer of the Special CBI Judge hearing disproportionate assets cases against the couple.

They have accused Lalu of interfering in the ongoing trial of multi-crore fodder scam cases and the government of not pursuing the income tax cases due to his position in the United Progressive Alliance government.
