80 trains cancelled, rescheduled for Bihar bandh

As many as 80 passenger trains passing through Bihar have been cancelled, rescheduled or regulated in view of the general strike in Bihar on Friday, the railway ministry said in New Delhi on Thursday.

The ministry took the decision to ensure the safety of passengers, an official spokesman said.

Trains originating from places like Howrah, Delhi, Gorakhpur, Varanasi and Guwahati will be affected.

A Northern Railway spokesman said the New Delhi-Magadh Express, New Delhi-Patna Sampoorna Kranti Express, Delhi-Howrah Janata Express, Delhi-Sealdah Lal Quila Express, and Amritsar-Delhi-Darbhanga Shaheed Express scheduled to leave on Thursday were cancelled.

The Amritsar-Barauni Jan Sewa Express, Amritsar-Katihar Express, New Delhi-Barauni Vaishali Express, and New Delhi-Muzaffarpur Saptkranti Express were terminated at Gorakhpur. The New Delhi-Muzaffarpur Lichhavai Express was terminated at Mau.

Eastern Railway sources in Kolkata said Thursday's 3231 Up Howrah-Danapur Express and 3413/3483 Malda-Bhiwani Farakka Express were cancelled.

The 3401 Up Bhagalpur-Danapur Intercity Express, 3467 Up Bhagalpur-New Delhi Vikramshila Express, 3419 Up Bhagalpur-Muzaffarpur Janseva Express and 2023 Up Howrah-Patna Shatabdi Express will remain cancelled on Friday, along with the 5047 Up Gorakhpur-Howrah Purvanchal Express on Saturday.

The 3005 Up Howrah-Amritsar Mail will be re-routed via the Grand Chord, they said.

According to the sources, the 3023 Up Howrah-Gaya Express was terminated at Jamalpur on Thursday, along with the 3133 Up Sealdah-Varanasi Express at Sahibganj and the 8181 Tata-Chhapra Express at Asansol.

The 3447 Up Bhagalpur-Dadar Express and 3404 Dn Vananchal Express, scheduled to leave from Bhagalpur on Friday at 0915 IST and 1500 IST, respectively, will now leave at 1800 and 1830 IST, while the 2303 Up Poorva Express and 3007 Up Udayan Abha Toofan Express will leave Howrah at 1245 and 1045 instead of 0915 and 0945 IST, respectively.
