One person was killed and another grievously injured when military personnel travelling in the 3151 Sealdah-Jammu Tawi Express threw them out of the running train into the River Loar Morhar for entering the military bogie.
The incident took place on Sunday night when two passengers, Raj Kumar Pandey and Ram Niwas Pandey, hailing from Uttar Pradesh's Saharanpur district got down at Gaya junction for dinner and entered the bogie in a hurry as the train left the station.
The military personnel did not take kindly to their entry and asked them to leave immediately. The hapless passengers tried in vain to convince them that they would go to their seats at the next station. An exchange of words followed and in anger the military personnel threw them out while the train was crossing the Loar Morhar river under the Gaya-Mughalsarai division.
The railway police with the help of local police fished the victims out and took them to Paraiyya station. While Raj Kumar Pandey was found dead, his companion was grievously injured and has been admitted to a government hospital in Gaya.
The railway police have lodged a first information report against the military personnel.
