A decision on IPS officer Kiran Bedi's application for voluntary retirement from service is likely to be taken shortly.
Official sources said the Union Home Ministry sent her application to the Department of Personnel and Training for processing and a final decision is expected by next Tuesday.
"The government is likely to accept her demand for VRS within Tuesday and other modalities are being worked out," sources said.
The 58-year-old officer has sought VRS, wanting to work outside the "system" after trying to reform it from within.
Meanwhile, the 1972-batch officer, who was not going to office after submitting her VRS papers, on Thursday chaired an official meeting of Bureau of Police Research and Development, (BPRD) where she is currently serving as the Director General.
Bedi attended the whole-day deliberations of the fifth Meeting of Registrars on MoU between BPRD and Universities, which finalised the nitty-gritties of a two-day national seminar to be held in Kanya Kumari in Tamil Nadu beginning December 13.
"I am on leave for some days. But I decided to attend this meeting as it was scheduled earlier. Also, this is my pet project. I may not be the Director General in December, but I will surely attend it in my personal capacity," Bedi said.
The 1994 Magsaysay awardee said there were "strong reasons" which compelled her to take the decision to quit, two years ahead of superannuation.
"I want to be the master of myself. I want to be the master of my time and so this decision. Many others in the services may not have the courage to take such a decision," she said.
