The Bangladeshi pilot, who made an emergency landing in Indian territory after being caught in a storm on Thursday, was handed over to the Bangladeshi authorities.

According to a spokesman of the Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi, the trainee pilot, Cadet Mohammad Rashid was repatriated on Thursday morning.

Inamul Haq Chaudhry, minister (press) Bangladesh High Commission said, "The quick repatriation of the trainee pilot reflects the good relations between India and Bangladesh,"

The Bangladesh Air Force plane had landed under emergency conditions in a field in West Bengal's Murshidabad district on Wednesday. The plane made the emergency landing during a storm at Raigram village near Salar in the afternoon.

The pilot had taken off from an airfield in Bangladesh but was caught in bad weather and failed to locate the place of landing, before making an emergency landing in Murshidabad. He was put up in a local circuit for the night and was repatriated promptly this morning.

Officials of the Bangladesh High Commission in Delhi were in constant touch with the defence and external affairs ministry in connection with the incident.
