There seems to be no respite for YSR Congress chief Jaganmohan Reddy as the Andhra Pradesh high court on Wednesday rejected his bail plea in the disproportionate assets case.

The 39-year-old Kadapa member of Parliament was arrested on May 27 after being questioned for three days and has been in jail ever since.

Justice Samudra Ala Govindrajulu while rejecting the bail plea observed that it could not interfere in the matter at the moment. The investigation is still underway and at a very crucial stage and granting bail at this point in time would prove fatal to the case, the judge observed.

Jagan had moved the high court seeking bail after the special Central
Bureau of Investigation court had rejected his bail application.

The CBI while objecting to Jagan's plea had said that it would derail the investigation if he were granted bail. There is more to be probed and hence it is essential that he remains in jail. Moreover, there is a chance of the evidence being tampered if he is released from the jail, the CBI had told the High Court.

Jagan has two more options now before him -- one would be to move the division bench of the Andhra Pradesh high court and later the Supreme Court.

He is currently lodged at the Chanchalguda Jail near Hyderabad. A court recently extended his judicial remand till July 4.
