Terror hit Jammu and Kashmir hard in 2014 with 103 militants being killed and 31 armymen martyred.

In comparison, only 65 were killed and 50 security personnel laid down their lives in 2013, official sources said.

This year's figures take into account the killing of terrorists and army personnel in the Uri encounter that ended on Friday.

"It has been a bloody year so far. The number of terrorists killed since last year has gone up. In the process, 31 of our own men have been martyred," sources said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted saying Friday’s attacks in Jammu and Kashmir are condemnable.

"There are desperate attempts to derail the atmosphere of hope and goodwill as seen by increased voter turnout," he tweeted.

He said that 25 crore Indians bow to brave armymen who sacrificed their lives.

"These men lived and died for the nation. We won't forget them," he tweeted.
