The Vigilance Bureau will register a disproportionate assets case against former Patna district magistrate Gautam Goswami for allegedly accumulating wealth beyond his known sources of income.

Goswami surrendered on Thursday before the court of designated Vigilance Judge Jitendra Mohan Prasad in connection with the multi-crore flood scam .

"Certainly, we will register a DA case against Goswami. How can a person having hardly 10 to 12 years of service own a house worth over Rs 35 lakh in Lucknow and two or three flats in Patna?" Director General of Police Ashish Ranjan Sinha told PTI.

When contacted, Additional Director General of Vigilance Bureau Neelmani, who is probing the scam, said the disproportionate assests case will be lodged when the investigation is over.

"Earlier, Goswami, who was on the run for a month after registration of a first information report in the multi-crore flood-relief scam, gave himself up before the special vigilance court in Patna, which remanded him to judicial custody till July 6.
