Former Patna district magistrate Gautam Goswami, who is evading arrest in the multi-crore flood scam in Bihar, is likely to face more trouble with the Bihar government contemplating to initiate another criminal case against him.

Official sources said the state would file another first information report against Goswami for misappropriation of Rs 1.52 crore meant for Swarana Jayanti Swa Rojgar Yojna and National Slum Development Programme during his tenure as district magistrate of Patna.

"Goswami's involvement in this case came to light following an inquiry by the urban development department," the official said.

The inquiry revealed that Rs 76 lakh meant each for SJSRY and NSDP was misappropriated between June and September 2004.

The inquiry report said the urban development had allotted Rs 69.63 lakh to the district urban development agency for distribution among 11 urban local bodies in the district but money was given to 17 non-governmental organisations for giving vocational training to people below poverty line.

Ironically, it was found that most of the NGOs granted money were non-existent. Similarly, Rs 76 lakh meant for NSDP was given to 19 NGOs.

Goswami's anticipatory bail petition hearing in Patna high court is due on Monday.

Last week, posters of Goswami were displayed in public places in Patna declaring him an absconder.
