Shiv Sainiks damage Mohali cricket pitch

Suspected Shiv Sena activists on Thursday caused damage to a portion of one of the pitches at the Punjab Cricket Association Stadium in Chandigarh ahead of an Indo-Pak Test match scheduled to be played next month.

When Sena spokesman Subhash Desai was contacted in Mumbai, he denied any knowledge of the incident. "We don't have any information at this point of time. We are trying to collect information," he said.

Punjab Cricket Association treasurer G S Walia said the "damage was minor because the watch and ward staff at the stadium managed to nab the miscreants before they could reach the actual pitch."
