The Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance in Bihar has demanded the recall of Governor Buta Singh over his recommendation letter written to Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav seeking his help for transfer of two senior railway officers.

In an official letter from Patna Raj Bhavan, dated July 15, Buta Singh had asked Lalu to help transfer an Indian Railway Stores Service officer Vijay P Meshram, to Mumbai as Controller of Stores, Central Railway.

Singh also recommended posting another officer of the Indian Railway Service Girish Bhatnagar as Assistant General Manager, Central Railway, Mumbai.

NDA leaders described the act as 'immoral' and as causing 'denigration of the post and prestige of the office of the governor'.

Bihar BJP president Sushil Kumar Modi said that seeking Lalu's favour proved that Singh is a puppet in the hands of Lalu.

Modi accused Buta Singh of being hand-in-glove with Lalu and running the state administration at the latter's behest.
