Rains continue in Nashik; 2 killed

Incessant rains continued to lash the city and adjoining areas for the fourth consecutive day on Thursday, disrupting normal life, while two persons have died in the district in the recent rains, official sources said.

One Lal Bahadur Mali was washed away in flood waters at Khedlezunge village in Niphad taluka and one Pandharinath Raut was electrocuted in Shivarpada village in Dindori while his daughter was undergoing treatment for burns due to electrocution at the rural hospital, sources added.

Meanwhile, waters of Godavari river, that had inundated several low-lying areas of the district, have started receeding and revenue department was assessing the damage.

Nashik Krishi Utpanna Bazar Samiti had sent 54 trucks of vegetables to Navi Mumbai on Wednesday evening.

District Collector Mahesh Zagde said that some estimates of the damages have been sent to the state government and added that the flood situation in the district was under control.
