The Maharashtra Crime Investigation Department on Wednesday arrested Assistant Inspector Sachin Waze in connection with the escape of Khwaja Yunus, an accused in the Ghatkopar bomb blast case.

Waze was arrested from his Thane residence. The CID will produce him before a court in Ahmadnagar soon.
  
A police team led by Waze was taking Yunus from Mumbai to Parbhani for investigations when the van carrying the team overturned.

Waze later reported that Yunus managed to escape after the accident.

Yunus's father, however, alleged that the police killed his son.

The government then handed over the case to the CID.
