RJD-LJP alliance on the rocks

The ruling Rashtriya Janata Dal had contested the last Lok Sabha election in alliance with the LJP and the Congress.

Paswan, who heads the steel and fertiliser ministries in the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance government at the Centre, was addressing party workers on his first visit to the state after assuming office. "We should be ready to contest alone from all assembly seats in the state to prove our strength," he said.

Paswan said the RJD has betrayed his trust.

It is widely believed that Paswan had desired the railway portfolio in the Union ministry, which was bagged by RJD chief Laloo Prasad Yadav.
