A Hyderabad court on Thursday rejected the bail petition of Balakrishna, Telugu cine actor and son of late Telugu Desam Party leader N T Rama Rao.

Balakrishna was remanded to judicial custody for allegedly opening fire at two persons, including film producer B Suresh, on Thursday last.

Metropolitan Sessions Judge Bhavani Prasad rejected the bail plea. The actor is currently undergoing treatment at NIMS Hospital. The actor was admitted to the hospital following an instruction by the court on Monday.

After hearing arguments of defence lawyer C Padmanabh Reddy and public prosecutor Ravinder Reddy, the judge dismissed the bail petition of the actor.

Meanwhile, Jubilee Hills police moved an application before 5th Metropolitan Magistrate in Hyderabad seeking police custody of Balakrishna for a period of five days.

In the application, police stated the actor was not questioned on June 5. Hence, to collect material evidences relating to the crime and to know the involvement of other persons in the crime, the police sought five days police custody on the ground of furnishing fitness certificate from the hospital.

The application has been posted for hearing tomorrow.
