The court said no convincing evidence has been brought before it to prove that Gandhi received any kickbacks in the Rs 1437 crore deal to buy 400 155MM Howitzer guns from AB Bofors of Sweden.

The judge also quashed charges under the Prevention of Corruption Act against Hinduja brothers -- Shrichand, Gopichand and Prakashchand -- in the case.

The brothers will continue to be tried for other charges -- conspiracy and cheating -- brought against them. The case will now, however, will be heard by a metropolitan magistrate.
