September 08, 2003 16:38 IST

The Central Bureau of Investigation on Monday filed a charge sheet against 19 people for conspiring and assassinating former Gujarat home minister Haren Pandya in March this year.

The charge sheet was filed in the designated CBI court against 19 accused, including Asghar Ali who had allegedly gunned down Pandya on March 26 this year, the CBI said.

The charge sheet has been filed under various provisions of POTA, IPC and Arms Act.

Out of the 19, fifteen were presently lodged in Sabarmati jail while four others -- Mufti Sufian, Sohail Khan, Rasool Khan and Mohammed Junaid Akhther -- were absconding.
