Jalan, Hema Malini nominated to Rajya Sabha

August 28, 2003 12:36 IST

RBI Governor Bimal Jalan, Bollywood actress Hema Malini and ISRO Chairman K Kasturirangan are among seven persons nominated by the government to the Rajya Sabha.

Wrestler-turned-actor Dara Singh, Pioneer editor Chandan Mitra, Hindi scholar Vidya Niwas Mishra and social worker Narayan Singh were the other persons nominated to the Upper House, a home ministry spokesman said on Thursday.

The seats had fallen vacant following retirement of eight nominated members, including actress-turned-social activist Shabana Azmi, nuclear physicist Raja Ramanna and veteran journalist Kuldip Nayyar.
