An alert was sounded in Delhi and Gujarat following the bomb blasts in Mumbai on Monday, in which 40 people were killed.

In Delhi vital installations and other sensitive places have been sensitised, police sources said.

Extra forces have been deployed at markets and other crowded public places.

Police pickets have been erected at various places across the capital and random checking of vehicles is being carried out, the sources said.

Top police officials held a meeting to review the situation in Delhi.

Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi has also asked the police to maintain high vigil in all sensitive areas, religious places and cinema houses.
