Emergency letters cause uproar again Josy Joseph in New Delhi | August 19, 2003 21:54 IST The proceedings of Lok Sabha were disrupted on Tuesday when Raghuvansh Prasad Singh of Rashtriya Janata Dal claimed to have letters written by Sangh Parivar leaders during Emergency to Indira Gandhi pleading clemency. Speaker Manohar Joshi refused to accept the letters on record. One was rejected because it was just a newspaper clipping, while the other, Joshi said will examine and give a ruling. Presenting the letters, Singh said he was supporting Sonia Gandhi's statement on Monday that some Sangh Parivar leaders had sought clemency from Indira Gandhi during Emergency. The opposition leader's remark had led to an uproar yesterday. Complete Coverage of the No-confidence Motion The present Cabinet was one of 'aya Ram and gaya Ram', with some in between chanting 'Jai Shri Ram', Singh said. Referring to the unruliness of the house, Singh said the concern should be reflected on the prime minister, who is the leader of the house, but in reality no such concern was forthcoming from Vajpayee.
