A single bullet killed Nagappa: Karnataka

December 09, 2002 21:14 IST

According to the post-mortem, a single bullet had killed Janata Dal-United leader H Nagappa, but only an investigation will reveal who fired the shot, Karnataka Home Minister Mallikarjun Kharge said in Bangalore on Monday.

Asked if Veerappan was behind the killing, he said, "We can't say anything now. It is presumed to be Veerappan. Things are under investigation. At this stage I can't say anything."

In the sixth cassette sent to the Karnataka government, Veerappan had claimed that he and Nagappa were injured following a gun battle with the Tamil Nadu Special Task Force. Tamil Nadu, however, denied the charge.
