Quattrocchi wins extradition case in Malaysia

A Malaysian court on Monday discharged Italian businessman Ottavio Quattrocchi in an extradition case filed by the Indian government against him.

Sessions court Judge Akhtar Tahir ruled that the descriptions of the offences in the requisition papers were insufficient, vague and ambiguous.

Tahir discharged Quattrocchi without conditions.

The decision ends all extradition-related proceedings pending in the sessions court and high court.

India want to question the Italian businessman over his role in the Bofors payoff case. It had launched its case for extradition two years ago. There is no extradition treaty between India and Malaysia.
