So who are the actors ruling the box office in the first six months of 2019?

Joginder Tuteja looks at the big hits scored, and presents his half-yearly report.

Shahid Kapoor
Kabir Singh
Box office collection: Rs 180 crores (and counting)

Shahid's biggest solo hit up until now was R... Rajkumar, with a business of Rs 66 crore.

Now, Kabir Singh has done four times as much!

Last year, Shahid had been a part of the Rs 300 crore blockbuster, Padmaavat, where he shared credit with Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone.

Ajay Devgn
Total Dhamaal, De De Pyaar De
Box office collection: Rs 257.73 crore

Delivering hits consistently is probably a walk in the park for Ajay Devgn.

His 2019 releases -- Total Dhamaal and De De Pyaar De -- were back-to-back hits in the Rs 100 crore club after 2018's Raid and 2017's Golmaal Again.

While Total Dhamaal went past the Rs 150 crore mark, De De Pyaar De scored Rs 100 crore.

Vicky Kaushal
Uri: The Surgical Strike
Box office collection: Rs 244.20 crore

For the actor who started his career with the festival film Masaan, Vicky Kaushal has come a long way.

The actor, who led the cast of 2019's big hit Uri, has become one of the hottest properties in town.

Salman Khan
Bharat
Box office collection: Rs 215 crore

It is quite rare not to see Salman Khan among the top three actors of the year.

But with Bharat falling short of expectations, it could not quite go the distance.

Yet, a double century is still a good score for the superstar.

Akshay Kumar
Kesari
Box office collection: Rs 154.41 crore

Akshay found his audience and delivered a solid hit with Kesari.

For someone who is used to delivering Rs 100 crore hits with every film, the actor seems to be looking at increasing his volume of movies.

Ranveer Singh
Gully Boy
Box office collection: Rs 140 crore

Last year was quite huge for Ranveer Singh, as between Padmaavat and Simmba, he sold tickets worth more than Rs 500 crore at the box office.

This year, he has a solitary release with Gully Boy, and that film brought in Rs 140 crore.

His next film, '83, could well be 2020's biggie.

Kartik Aaryan
Luka Chuppi
Box office collection: Rs 95 crore

The young actor seems to have found his bearings and that was on full display in Luka Chuppi, which almost entered the Rs 100 crore club.

With his winning smile, Kartik has been enjoying a good steady run at the box office and is winning over audiences, film after film.

Amitabh Bachchan
Badla
Box office collection: Rs 87.99 crore

Amitabh Bachchan has been in the industry for 50 years and he still has it in him to bring in the audiences.

The kind of performance he displayed in the crime thriller Badla made his fans want to come to theatres and watch it first hand.
