The 2013 Grammy Awards, held in Los Angeles, California on February 10, may not have had any big winners to sweep all top awards this year but the show was a success nonetheless.

Sitar legend Ravi Shankar, who passed away at the age of 92 in December last year, was posthumously awarded the best world music album trophy at the 55th Grammys, pipping his own daughter Anoushka, a day after being honoured with a Lifetime Achievement award by The Recording Academy.

While on the red carpet, Jennifer Lopez flaunted her enviable body as she arrived in a risque gown with toy boy Casper Smart.

Pandit Ravi Shankar's album The Living Room Sessions Part 1 saw off competition from daughter Anoushka's Traveller, among others.
 
Anoushka accepted the award on the sitar maestro's behalf at music's biggest night at the Staples Center here, saying,
"Its OK to lose to your father."

Rihanna

Barbadian popstar Rihanna, whjo made her appearance in a floing red gown with a sheer detail, later took to the stage for a scintillating performance.

She was also spotted getting cosy with on-and-off boyfriend and singer Chris Brown at the do.

Rihanna won the Best Short form Music Video award for the song We Found Love featuring Calvin Harris.

Beyonce and Adele

Beyonce, dressed in a futuristic outfit, won the Traditional R&B Performance Grammy for Love on top.

Last year's big winner Adele, whose floral frock was largely panned by experts, won her ninth golden gramophone for Best Solo Pop Performance for Set Fire to the Rain.

The Dream and Jay Z

Best Rap/Sung Collaboration went to No Church in the Wild with Jay-Z, Kanye West, Frank Ocean and The-Dream.

Jay Z also won the Rap Performance Grammy along side co-artist and close friend Kanye West for Niggas In Paris.

Taylor Swift and Florence Welch

Taylor Swift, who put in a performance and jointly won the award for Best Song written for visual media: Safe & Sound (From The Hunger Games) with John Paul White, Joy Williams, wore a shiny gown to the Grammys.

Florence And The Machine singer Florence Welch stood out in her custom made green gown.

Musicians Gotye and Kimbra's Somebody That I Used to Know pipped Taylor Swift's We are never ever getting back together for the Record of the Year award.

The duo also won the best rock performance for Lonely Boy and best producer for Dan Auerbach.

While Frank Ocean won the Best Urban contemporary album for Channel Orange, indie pop band Fun. won Song Of the Year (We are young) and Best New Artiste awards.

Actress and hit HBO show Girls creator Lena Dunham plants a congratulatory kiss on the band's guitarist and beau Jack Antonoff's cheek.

Adam Levine and Alicia Keys

Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine and singer Alicia Keys put in a spirited performance.

Other notable winners of the night included Kelly Clarkson, who won the Best Pop Vocal Album for Stronger, Album of the Year won by Mumford & Sons for Babel and Traditional pop vocal album for Kisses on the Bottom by Paul McCartney.
