After the smashing hit Shivamani, superstar Nagarjuna teams up with hotshot Telugu director Puri Jagannath in Super. Unfortunately, the film belies all expecations, thanks to a contrived plot.
Puri relies on technical wizadry and glam songs. Barring the motor boat chase, even the much-hyped bike races and robberies fail to impress. Above all, the disjointed screenplay of an oft-repeated plot of friends-turned-foes fails to interest.
The film is about Nag, who rides bikes and rob banks. He falls in love with a doctor (Ayesha Takia). When she introduces Nag to her brother Sonu Sood, hell breaks loose. Nag reveals later that the two were once friends, who had later turned foes.

Nag looks trendy with long hair. He looks like a biker but his poorly-etched character lacks punch. He spends most of his time romancing, and occasionaly robs a bank or steals diamonds.
The actor, who had five hits in two years, may be disappointed for missing out on a double hat-trick.
Ayesha debuts in Telugu films with a glamorous role. But the director seems to exploit her body more than her talent. The other heroine, Anushka, goes overboard with her expressions of love and keeps falling all over Nag.
Sood impresses as Nag's pal who later turns his foe, assuming Nag was responsible for his sister's death. He looks good but lacks acting skills.
Shiyaji Shinde is wasted in a cliche cop role. Ali and Brahmandam evoke laughs intitialy, but tend to get repetitive.
Music director Sandeep Chowta delivers fast-paced music, and Ghili ghilli stands out. His background score is adequate. Shyam K Naidu's camerawork deserves kudos.
