Susi Ganesan's Tamil film Kanthasami, starring Vikram, has been in the news for several reasons. First, when the film unit made a decision to adopt a village. The most recent one is that after 50 years, the film's star will also sing in it.

"For decades, we have not had an actor who sings in his own voice. In the old days, actors sang in their own voices. I am proud to have started a new trend with my film," Susi Ganesan told us proudly.

There were instances of some actors singing one or two songs but for the first time after several years, the hero of the film, Vikram sings all the four songs for Kanthasami under the music direction of Devi Sri Prasad.

"I accidentally heard Vikram sing a song, and was quite impressed. I asked him whether he would sing in the film but he said that nobody had any confidence in the singer in him. When I told him that I had confidence in his singing, he didn't believe me. Devi Sri Prasad made him sing all the four songs (Poda Podi, Excuse Me Mr Kanthasamy, Kuchi Mittai and Mania ), and mind you, all the four are different and tuned for a trained singer. I must say Vikram sang all of them extremely well. I think he even surprised himself," the director added.

Kanthasami also stars Shriya Saran. The film is expected to release this summer.
