'India's Daughter should be made compulsory viewing'

Strong reactions continue to pour in from the film fraternity against the government's decision to ban Leslee Udwin's documentary India's Daughter.

Anurag Basu: Jst saw "India's Daughter". It shd be compulsory viewing not Banned!!

Shabana Azmi: How can showing a criminal mouthing depraved views amt to lionising him? It can only create revulsion in the viewer and lead 2 introspection. Remedying horrific crimes needs efforts to probe sick mentalities that underlie them.blaming women for inviting rape resonates in society. Shift The Blame Shift The Shame to the perpetrator and not the victim was powerful rethinking post Nirbhaya and needs to get into our DNA.

Anubhav Sinha: Just finished watching 'India's Daughter'. Why should they ban it? WHY? I wonder if they have seen it.

Deepa Mehta: Here we go again. Banning a film that examines an unsavoury aspect of Indian society. It should be made compulsory viewing. What cowards.

Meiyang Chang: "India's Daughter": Sensationalism? Emotional manipulation? Intentional maligning? Afraid not; this IS the sad truth.

Sudhir Mishra: V see sick minds all around. Often in d heads of ppl v know. A girl sees them in her family sometimes. Confront that not d documentary. Many years ago this same "defaming India " argument was once used against Satyajit Ray.

Kabir Bedi: Govt's decision to BAN #IndiasDaughter - a BBC documentary by an award-winning director - damages India's image the most. Interviewing rapists is as old as journalism itself. And when their own words reveal them as monsters what's the problem?

Genelia Deshmukh: Pls watch "India's daughter.. We need to understand and eradicate the evil within us n around us.
