The biggest summer release in Tamil is ready to hit the theatres on April 3. Yes, we're talking about AVM's Ayan directed by National award-winning cinematographer K V Anand.

The film stars Suriya, Tamannah and Hindi television actor Akash Saigal as the villain. One of the biggest attractions of the film is an item number by Hindi actress Koena Mitra.

"It is not an item number like it is described by everyone," K V Anand said. "I will not call it an item number though you are at liberty to call it that. It is a song that takes the story forward. The song happens in a night club where something very important in the story takes place," he added.

Though the director likes to make films without songs, in the present scenario Tamil films cannot be made without songs, he said. "Indian audience prefer songs in films, and even Mani Ratnam, one of the most successful filmmakers in India has not been able to make films without songs," the director added.

About the song Honey, Honey composed by Harris Jayaraj, he said, "The dance has been choreographed by Ganesh Acharya. He was the one who suggested Koena Mitra's name. He had choreographed her in Musafir. I had also seen the song and that is why we decided to have her do the dance. She was very professional. The dance sequence was shot in four days," he said.

"As a director, I would describe the song as very good and I'm sure that the people will love Koena and her dance. More than anything, the song and the dance will push the story forward," he concluded.
