Dam 999 goes to the Oscar library

A scene from DAM 999The screenplay of English film DAM 999 has been officially selected to be placed in the Library of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences.

The Oscar Library has added the screenplay as part of its Permanent Core Collection, which is accessible to students, filmmakers, writers, actors and others from the field of cinema, for the purpose of research.

Director Sohan Roy says, "Though many movie screenplays from India have already marked their presence in the Academy's Library -- including movies like Lagaan -- DAM 999
is the first movie to enter the library even before its theatrical release anywhere around the globe."


DAM 999 is about a corrupt mayor who builds a new dam for political gains and personal glorymillions of innocent lives. Nine lives get entwined by the impending disaster. The film is about nine characters and nine moods; nava rasas.

The leading players in the film include Rajit Kapur, Joshua Fredric Smith, Linda Arsenio, Gary Richardson, Jaala Pickering, Ashish Vidyarthi, Vinay Rai, Vimala Raman, Megha Burman and Jineet Rath.

The movie distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures will be released in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu along with English on November 25.
